Four-legged horses don’t always come when you call, so it’s pretty impressive when a half-fish horse does, without even the need to shake a can of grain!

I started this scene a few years ago and then put it away, probably b/c I couldn’t get the lighting right. When I re-opened it, I was a bit mystified by the lighting, as I’d apparently been trying a lot of different things to get a bit of caustics into the scene. Rather than start over with the lighting, I fiddled with it a bit and then decided it was fine for the subject matter. It’s not every day you get to depict a mermaid’s horse!
