Please see the description for SE1 – Getting Steamy for background on this series!
One of the things I’m finding most challenging about the series finding a balance between lighting that makes sense for the set and lighting that showcases the main characters. For this scene I used the classic 3-point lighting method typically used for portraits (using i13’s Pro Lighting Rig as a starting point), but it kind of bothers me that there are no obvious sources for the light in the scene. I could’ve brought in some light fixture props, of course, but not in a way that would make sense of where the illumination was coming from, not unless heroines like these typically encounter bad guys who just happen to be aiming spotlights at them! So I’ll continue working towards some kind of balance.
I also have to confess to having mixed feelings about featuring guns in a render, even though I enjoy seeing bad ass women in other people’s renders (and on TV). For this scene I used fictional sci-fi weapons and not models of actual guns you might find on the street, so I guess that’s OK! Again, that’s not a commentary on anyone else’s artistic use of guns, just my own thing.
Finally, I realize this one isn’t as much of a “sapphic encounter” as the first in the series, but maybe these two will get a chance later on for a more relaxing second date 🙂
