Poor Twiggy and Thorn though they were coming over to Tiny’s to enjoy a relaxing day in the pool. They had no idea they’d be the targets for a little watergun practice!

When I did quarter-sized test renders of this scene, the renders were slow but they at least completed. When I was ready to do a full-sized final render, the render stalled about halfway through (at the splashes) and wouldn’t continue, even though I left it running overnight. So I switched the materials on the watergun splashes from “high quality” to “medium quality” (from the included material sets), and then the full render completed in about five minutes! The likely culprit: refract nodes.
